Our History

ONG’S OPTICS was established in 1985 by Mr. Ong Boon San who has been an experienced Optician before starting this entity. Currently, Mr. Ong still manages the practice. Over the years, Ong’s Optics has progressed to 2 outlets with the concept of providing quality optical products, excellent services and also professional eye care for our customers. The practice focuses on identifying ocular problem and helping clients cope with their ocular issues with the help of Ophthalmologists (private/hospital).

In Year 2000, Dr. Alex Ong, son of Mr. Ong, graduated from Singapore Polytechnic with a Diploma in Optometry (Merit). While practicing at Ong’s Optics, Dr. Alex proceeded to further his studies and attained a Bachelor of Science in Optometry and Master Science in Clinical Optometry from Salus University (US) in the Year 2003. Subsequently, he also obtained a Doctor of Optometry from Aston University (UK) in 2018.

Dr. Ong was a Part time Clinician/Lecturer for the Singapore Polytechnic Optometry Course. He was also a former External Consultant to Johnson & Johnson Vision Care (Singapore) and currently holds the advisory panel member post for Ciba Vision Singapore.

To further create a more holistic experience at Ong’s Optics, the Myopia Management Centre was introduced in 2018. The purpose of the centre is to provide professional advise to parents and children in hopes to help manage and slow down the progression of myopia. Methods used to manage myopia progression range from ophthalmic lenses, soft contact lenses and Orthokeratology, all of which are clinically proven to be effective.

The practice also has a group of qualified Optometrists and Opticians working along with both Mr. Ong and Dr. Alex to provide exemplary services to all clients.
